As I was making a letter for a friend who is leaving us for good (marrying the guy God gave her), I keep on thinking what would happen next? The pages of friendship we shared will have an ellipses for I believe it will continue as the Lord permits, moreover, another chapter of her life will open in a world of marriage. Mixed emotions sprung up as I remember the laughter, tears of joy, surprises, prayers, even open rebukes that connects us.
Yes, I agree on what I feel to be glad for God's purpose is already prevailing in her life, however, I cannot deny the fact that a part of me saddens as the day of her departure comes near. It may be that my full-bleak blast does not drawn out yet. It is slowly sinking in me that a sister and a friend in one will not always be around when I needed someone to eat heavy meal (we always eat "kaing pang-manggagawa"), she's gonna be an overseas-phone call miles away when I needed someone to share a "girl-talk" over a cup of coffee or nothing at all, just the plain "how are you?" in a whole deeper sense. The generosity and being sincere of her will be missed. I always remember her saying, "If you are my friend, you'll be my friend until the end. I will defend you no matter what."
I wonder, is there someone who loves saying goodbye? The phrase see you soon, conversely ease the emotional side of departure. I might pretty much stick on the second term, coz life doesn't stop on saying the first term.
We live in a temporary world. What we see is fleeting. What we have is transitory. But one thing's for sure, when we hold on to God's promises, worries will be gone, doubt will fade, and the tears from our eyes that causes vagueness in it clears away. Let's go back to God, our first love.
When something I value is gone, when someone walks away, when everything seems not running smoothly as it used to be, I always remember this song from my youth camp before:
This is my prayer, this is my cry
I want to go on loving you
All through the joy, all through the fire
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
All through the joy, all through the fire
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
Seasons may change, people depart
I want to go on loving you
In times of pain, when life is hard and when the journey seems so long
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
In times of pain, when life is hard and when the journey seems so long
I want to go on loving you
Your love for me
New as the dawn, older than time
Stronger than death, greater than life
This love is mine
New as the dawn, older than time
Stronger than death, greater than life
This love is mine
In everything, through all my life
I want to go on loving you
This is my prayer, this is my cry
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
This is my prayer, this is my cry
I want to go on loving you
I want to go on loving you
Your love for me
New as the dawn, older than time
Stronger than death, greater than life
This love is mine
New as the dawn, older than time
Stronger than death, greater than life
This love is mine
